If, like me, you grew up in the '80s or '90s, you definitely know the scrunchie. If a boy wore your scrunchie on his wrist, it was a clear statement that he wanted to be your boyfriend. Now these chic hair ties are making a comeback! I'm thrilled that this great accessory is finding favor in the hair fashion world again. They are colorful, they are eye-catching and they are good for your hair. The hit series Stranger Things probably helped make them popular again, too. After all, Eleven wears one quite often. You can wear them with Clip-in Extensions, Tape-in Extensions, Bonding Extensions, Flip-in Extensions and Microring Extensions. But where does this great invention actually come from?

The first person to wear a scrunchie was the singer Romy Revson. She no longer wanted to wear hair ties with metal, and plastic wasn't really her thing either. So she made the fabric alternative, sold her patent, and the rest is history! The prototype of the very first scrunchie and the sewing machine it was made on are now even in a museum.

Scrunchies are especially good for your hair because they don't leave a kink, which means less breakage. They are also more comfortable on the scalp because they sit more loosely. Human hair extensions are particularly prone to breakage, which makes a scrunchie a good solution.

We have picked out 10 hairstyles for you that you can wear with scrunchies. Of course, all of these hairstyles also work with hair extensions and hair thickening of every kind.

Half-up ponytail

With a scrunchie, this hairstyle makes an even bigger impact than with ordinary hair ties. You can tie a loose ponytail at the nape of your neck or a sleek ponytail on top of your head. Your Remy hair will thank you for using a soft scrunchie that doesn't damage the hair structure.

Braid

Adding a scrunchie turns a simple braid into something special. Tie a ponytail fairly high on your head and secure it with the scrunchie. Then braid your hair as usual and secure the end with a hair tie or another scrunchie.

Ponytail

One of the most popular scrunchie hairstyles is the ponytail. You can also jazz up our ponytail extensions with a scrunchie. The look is great for a regular day at the office, but also for an exciting night at the club.

Bun

The bun is another quick hairstyle that keeps your hair off your face and neck and can rescue a bad hair day. You can also wear it with unwashed hair, and it always looks good. If you want to take good care of your hair, always make sure you use the right extensions care set. Of course, a bun can also look super chic. The scrunchie gives the hairstyle that certain something. With two loose face-framing strands, you look as if you had stepped straight out of a time machine from the '80s.

Multiple scrunchies

Scrunchies let you create hairstyles that are simply more fun! A bubble ponytail tied in several places, for example. Just make a regular ponytail, then tie another hair tie about 1 to 2 cm further down. Repeat all the way to the ends. The look is reminiscent of Princess Jasmine's hairstyle, so you can picture what the result should look like.

Space buns

A super cool hairstyle that got its name from the cult film Star Wars. In the 1970s, Princess Leia rocked this look with two buns on top of her head, aka space buns. You can combine them with French braids. Back then, this hairstyle was very fashionable, and luckily it made a comeback in 2022.

Scrunchie scarf

Another cool scrunchie accessory that is making a comeback. As in this picture, you can pair it with a braid. But you can also wear it with a bun or a classic ponytail.

Themed scrunchies

Whether at weddings, on Halloween or at retro parties – a scrunchie almost always fits. It comes in so many designs, shapes and colors that the combinations are nearly endless.

Scrunchies are the highlight of today's fashion world. They are colorful and good for your hair. Just what we need to bring a little joy into our everyday lives, which has been in short supply lately.

Let these colorful hair accessories inspire you and create great hairstyles that are right on trend.
